Ingredient

For this recipe, you will need:
  • 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes, peeled and grated

  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Method

1. Preheat your oven to 200°C/400°F and line a baking tray with baking paper. 2. Mix well with your hands until all ingredients are evenly distributed. 3. Form the mixture into 4-6 patties, depending on how big you want your burgers to be. 4. Place the patties on the prepared baking tray and brush them with olive oil on both sides. 5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, flipping them halfway through. 6. While the burgers are baking, heat a frying pan over medium heat and add some olive oil. 7. Once the pan is hot, add the burgers and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. 8. Serve the burgers on buns with your favourite toppings.

Notes

- If the mixture is too wet to form into patties, add more breadcrumbs until it holds together. - You can make the patties ahead of time and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days before cooking. - These sweet potato burgers freeze well. To freeze, wrap them individually in cling film and store in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
