Ingredients

  • 6 large potatoes
  • 1 pound ground beef or pork

  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Method

  1. Peel and chop the potatoes into small pieces. Boil them in a large pot of salted water until they are soft and tender.

  3. Add the onion, garlic, and red bell pepper to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

  8. Place the flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs in separate bowls. Dip each potato ball in the flour, then the eggs, and finally the bread crumbs, making sure they are coated evenly.
  9. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the potato balls in batches until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  10. Remove the potato balls from the skillet with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  11. Serve the Spanish potato balls hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

If you don't want to fry the potato balls, you can also bake them in the oven at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown.
